Vlog #39: Southern Belle Shoutout

I'm in the works of moving permanently to the new site... but for now, here it is!
remember to go to sogopro.com for translations!

[Hilarie is sitting on the steps with a hanger with Prince’s face on it]

Hilarie Burton: [talking to ‘Prince’] No way! Are you kidding me? [Nick comes down the stairs] Hey.

Nicholas Gray: Hey Hil! What’s up?

HB: Prince was just telling me secrets. You don’t want to know. It’s so bad. What’s going on with you?

NG: Nothing. I was just thinking about somebody I really like a lot.

HB: Really? Are you going to tell me who it is?

NG: Well it’s one of my favorite southern actresses.

HB: Oh my god… tell me who!

NG: Beth Grant.

HB: [gasps] BoldI’ve worked with Beth Grant!

NG: I know. You worked with Beth in “Our Very Own.”

HB: That’s true.

NG: Austin actually also worked with Beth in “The House of Usher.”

HB: Yeah!

NG: I haven’t worked with Beth.

HB: Whoa, whoa, whoa, we’ve got a lot of things going on.

NG: [exaggerated] Whoa!

Both: [with hand motions] Whoa!

NG: Whoa!

HB: I’m saying… we’ve got a lot of things going on, maybe we can snag her and pull her into our lair.

NG: I just love Beth so much. [to camera] And I don’t know if you guys know who she is. She’s like this… like Beth Grant perhaps isn’t a name that you’re identifying with right now, but she is probably in every movie you’ve ever seen in your life.

HB: Probably. “Donnie Darko” is a big one.

NG: “Donnie Darko.” She’s the sparkle motion…

HB: [quoting movie] “Sometimes I doubt your commitment to sparkle motion!”

NG: She was in “Too Wong Foo.”

HB: Yes.

NG: She was in “No Country for Old Men.” She was in “Factory Girl,” she played Andy Warhol’s mother.

HB: She was in that show “Jericho.”

NG: “Jericho.” She’s done tons of T.V., “Six Feet Under”, “Wonderfalls”, “Pushing Daises.” She’s in, like, every single thing in the world, and she’s awesome!

HB: Great, great character actress, and also, a native of Wilmington, North Carolina!

NG: I didn’t realize she was actually from Wilmington.

HB: Dude, she went to New Hanover High School!

NG: Weird!

HB: The first time I met her I was working on that movie in Tennessee, and I told her, I was like “Oh, I’m the biggest ‘Donnie Darko’ fan. I just think you’re so great.” And she said that line to me. She just took my arm and said ‘Sometimes I doubt your commitment to sparkle motion,” and I lost my mind.

NG: That’s amazing.

HB: Yeah, and then she told me all about being from here. She comes to town for Azalea Festival.

NG: I had read that she was here for this past Azalea Festival.

HB: What do you love most about her?

NG: Well there’s certain people who just inspire you to want… I mean, me personally, to want to write for them, and I think she deserves a feature…

HB: Right?!

NG: …because she always plays these really small character roles.

HB: Is that what we’re going to do next?

NG: Maybe. [to camera] Hey Beth!

HB: [to camera] Dear Beth, here we come!

NG: What about you? Is there somebody that you… a southern guy or gal that you have a shine too?

HB: I think you know who my guilty pleasure is.

NG: Oh, Sandy?

HB: It’s Sandy Bullock! Oh my god! I just can’t help it! “Hope Floats” and “Practical Magic”? I just think she’s the coolest!

NG: “Miss Congeniality.”

HB: Yeah! Well, and I’ve emailed her a few times. She’s from the same neck of the woods that I’m from. You know, she’s kind of southern, but not, like, super deep south. She sides to be southern, and I respect that in a woman.

NG: Isn’t she a good Jewish girl?

HB: God, I don’t know.

NG: I thought she was.

HB: We’ll have to Google the hell out of her later. “Practical Magic” was on T.V. the other day. It’s been coming on like every five minutes, and I just like how approachable she is, and how cute! Yeah, I like that she kind of stays low key, out of the spotlight, and just shows up and does her job. And she’s got a movie coming out this year, “The Proposal”, that I’m kind of excited to see.

NG: She has another one with Bradley Cooper.

HB: Oh, I don’t know.

NG: She’s playing like a nerdy girl, or something.

HB: She’s just the cutest.

NG: She’s so diverse.

HB: “Hope Floats”? Are you kidding me? That movie’s so good. It’s so good!

NG: I used to work in this video store and I actually… there was this one line that would play over and over again on the trailer….

HB: Oh, like the preview?

NG: Yeah. It was something about audacity. [Hilarie laughs] I hate audacious people.

HB: Oh, man. You and I will have a Sandy-Bullock-Beth-Grant-athon. Oh, if we can get them in the same picture…

NG: I’m sure you can! I’m sure you can.

HB: Let’s do it. I’m sure if you guys can figure out the six degrees of separation between Sandra Bullock and Beth Grant you will make us very, very happy! So, with that being said, go for it!

[both wave]

Vlog #38: June is Motion Picture Month in NC!!

Still not set up with sogopro.com .. but i'm sure someone will be switching this over for me, if you guys would rather check it out at the new (kick ass) site! =]

[Hilarie and Kelly are sitting on a couch]

Hilarie Burton: Hi guys! Guess what? I stole Kelly from behind the camera and I’m making him actually talk today. Are you not happy about that?

Kelly Tenney: Not happy. [laughs]

HB: Not happy at all. But no, we have really good news! We’ve decided that June is our new favorite month. Do you want to tell everybody why?

KT: The governor, Governor Perdue, a friend of ours…

HB: …a very good friend.

KT: … has dedicated June as the Motion Picture Industry Month.

HB: So it’s a whole month in our state of North Carolina where it is celebrating the movie industry because, I mean, the movie industry really does a lot for this area. I mean, what, we affect tourism…

KT: Tourism, jobs.

HB: We’re a “green” industry.

KT: “Green” industry.

HB: Yeah, I mean, we’re super green. We have so many colleges here in state that put all of their energy into their arts departments. They put a lot of money into it. So we’re educating a whole generation of future filmmakers that we want to keep here.

KT: Promote, yes.

HB: Totally. So the month of June 2009 is Motion Picture Industry Month, and there’s going to be a big party in Raleigh.

KT: Big rally! On the 11th.

HB: On the 11th of June, what is it, the Halifax mall? They’re having a big…

KT: Yes.

HB: Okay. There’s a group that being set up, it’s called “25 to Survive.” What we’re trying to do, and what we’ve been trying to do for a while is get our film tax incentive in our state boosted.

KT: 15 to 25.

HB: We’re trying to get it to 25%. So that… what does that mean, for everybody at home who doesn’t understand the incentive stuff?

KT: Well basically, right now, the other states are beating us. Georgia has a 30% incentive…

HB: So for every dollar they spend in state, they get 30% back.

KT: That’s just about. I mean, it’s not quite that high because certain things are eliminated from it, but it’s close.

HB: Okay, so what we want, is we want to offer the people who are coming to our state the best possible incentive because every dollar they spend here, is money that’s going…

KT: Stateship.

HB: Yeah, it’s money that’s going to our schools, the families that live here…

KT: Small business…

HB: So it’s very important that we’re competitive with the other states in the country right now. So yeah, “25 to Survive” is the group that’s trying to boost our film incentive, and they’re going to have a great big rally in Raleigh on the 11th, the day of this party, and if you guys are interested in that, we really encourage you to check them out. They have a blogspot 25tosurvive.blogspot.com, and then they have Facebook and Twitter pages. We’ll write those all down for you so you guys can check them out. But yeah, support North Carolina film because that is what our company…

Both: …is all about!

HB: So yeah, join the team guys! See you later.

Vlog #37: Give Us Some Questions...

hey guys!
So, number one, yes we did magically skip a number from the last transcript. That's because, as my dear Marion informed me, I am actually one number behind. (Darn, stupid counting abilities)
Also, i was told the transcripts have already been moved! Yay! so while you are checking out the new awesome site that i'm sure most of you have already looked around, come visit the transcript page. it is at www.sogopro.com/transcripts.php . It's alot of fun I promise.

Considering I have no idea who moved them, hopefully whoever the kind sir/ma'am who did it would be kind enough to move this one as well =] Thank you!

enjoy the 37TH vlog, folks!

[Hilarie and Nick are sitting on a bench together]

Hilarie Burton: Nick, you know, there are just so many questions in the universe. [Nick nods and acts out an explosion] Do you have any questions for the magic 8 ball? [holds up Magic 8 Ball]

Nicholas Gray: For the magic 8 ball? Okay… are these yes or no questions on this thing? Yeah. Okay.

HB: Yeah they are yes or no. The universe only answers yes or no questions. It’s really busy.

NG: Okay. When possums play dead, are they really dead?

HB: [makes a face while shaking magic 8 ball, then reads what is says] “Signs point to yes”! That’s crazy talk!

NG: I don’t know about this thing. That was a test for this thing

HB: Yeah? Maybe that doesn’t work then!

NG: Why don’t you give it a shot?

HB: Okay. My question is… [Nick shakes magic 8 ball in her face and she groans while thinking] What is my question? Oh, I know what my question is! Do you remember that girl in that coffee shop that was really mean to us?

NG: Do I ever!

HB: Are we ever going to have to see her again?

NG: [reads the ball] “You may rely on it.”

HB: Oh, rats! We can never go out again!

NG: No

HB: These questions aren’t working. You know what we should do?

NG: What?

HB: We need to put it out there to everybody home… we’re blogging and vlogging for you, and while we are trying to create this content we are also trying to run our business, so we just want to know directly from you, so we don’t have to guess, what do you want to know? Write in your questions. They can be about specific projects we’re working on. They can be about Kelly, Nick, or myself. You know, I mean, you can ask us personal questions. [mutters] We probably won’t answer those.

NG: But you can ask them anyways.

HB: Yeah, because they make us laugh. So you guys tell us what you want to see, what you want us to talk about. Any questions you want answered… we’re an open book, right pal?

NG: Until we close it…

HB: True that. [to the camera] Until the book closes… [waves]
